Business Review: Sean Carey Music celebrates twelve years of offering music lessons

Students of Sean Carey Music are shown at their 9th annual “A Holiday Recital.”

Sean Carey Music celebrated twelve years of offering specialty private music lessons and services in Oil City. The studio, located on the second floor of the National Transit Building Annex, offers music lessons in guitar, piano, drums, ukulele, clarinet, violin and voice. The studio was founded in 2012 by Sean Carey, who continues to compose and perform locally.

Carey earned his master’s degree in 2012 and is adjunct faculty at the Community College of Allegheny County. He has been involved with the Barrow Civic Theater as well as Oil City, Cranberry and Franklin high schools for many of their musicals.

Last year the studio brought back it’s cassette tape digitization service, which offers clients an opportunity to save their audio recordings from tape to a digital file. In many cases, the audio quality of these recordings can also be restored in the process.

The past year also saw the studio’s first full-length album recorded and produced on-site at the studio. The studio continues to offer demo and album recordings for Taste of Talent performers and anyone interested in cutting a record.

New to the studio this year is the addition of copyright and music publishing services. The studio can help with copyright registration for anyone wanting to register their copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office. Sean Carey Music LLC is now a member of ASCAP and consultation services for musicians interested in signing up with music publishing rights organizations is available.

The studio’s recently added Songwriting Basics Course now has a downloadable course pack including videos, slides, handouts and more. It will be available for individual purchase and license to music schools anywhere.

More information can be found on the studio website at www.seancareymusic.net.
