New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole had imaging on his right elbow, and he expects to know more about the situation in the next couple of days. Cole was tagged for six runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings during a spring training start against Minnesota on Thursday. He told reporters that he felt good during the outing, but he got more and more sore after it was over. Cole told reporters, including MLB.com, that the imaging had been distributed, and he is waiting on second opinions on the injury. Cole missed the start of last season because of nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow.
France’s talismanic captain Antoine Dupont has left injured against Ireland in the first half of their Six Nations match in Dublin. Just minutes after assisting on the only try of the half, Dupont’s right knee was buckled inward in a ruck clearout by Ireland’s Tadhg Beirne. Asked at halftime about the injury, France coach Fabien Galthie said, “Not good, not good.” Dupont limped off with medical personnel on either shoulder. He was replaced by fellow scrumhalf Maxime Lucu, the only back in the reserves. That exposed the risk of France’s choice to go with seven reserve forwards and trust no backs are injured in a match that will likely decide the Six Nations title.

Nottingham Forest’s improbable bid for Champions League qualification was boosted by a 1-0 win over ailing Manchester City in the Premier League with Callum Hudson-Odoi scoring the goal in the 83rd minute. City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was beaten at his near post by Hudson-Odoi’s shot in one of few clear-cut chances in a tight game. Third-place Forest was battling relegation last season but has moved four points clear of fourth-place City, which was the winner of the last four Premier League titles. Pep Guardiola’s team won’t be making it five in a row and has a fight on its hands just to finish in the top five in the league, which should be enough to qualify for the Champions League.

Police Scotland said it received a report of damage to the golf course in the early hours of Saturday, and that inquiries are ongoing.
